Description
An exploration of texture and pattern the Celadon Heartbreaker Ring is an intricate, interlocking matrix of hand-sawed and punched hearts. The name pays homage to classic celadon stonewares, capturing that exact same ethereal, pale-green hue and flawless, vitrified surface that has fascinated makers for centuries.
Because the silver lattice is cut entirely by hand and the glass behaves organically under heat, each iteration of the Heartbreaker design carries its own unique fingerprint. It is a quiet dialogue between rigid metal and fluid glass.
The setting and ring are made from brass and have been patinated blue using a ‘fume’ method. The patina has been coated to prevent wear including inside ring shaft, which also protects against any allergy.
The Innovation
While the smooth, glossy finish mimics historical porcelain or traditional champlevé enamel, this piece represents a completely distinct approach to studio jewellery.
* Pure Glass Fusion: Moving entirely away from traditional enamelling powders, this technique seamlessly integrates raw glass sheet directly with the sawed metal framework.
* Hand-Pierced Silver: The intricate heart design is painstakingly cut by hand from a sheet of silver using a jeweller’s saw or disc cutter.
* The Tactile Finish: Through a rigorous, multi-stage grinding and polishing process, the glass and silver are brought into perfect alignment.
Materials
* Jewel: Hand-Sawn Silver, Fused Glass (5cm wide)
* Setting: Brass with Blue fume patina
